I know that it makes me the most basic of basic girls to admit that I could eat Trader Joe’s Everything But the Bagel Seasoning on EVERYTHING.

However, this stuff is so freaking divine that I’m not even one little bit embarrassed.

Sadly, England hasn’t yet branched out into the wonderful world of Trader Joes. I’m praying and anxiously awaiting the day that it does. But until then, I had to come up with my own way to satisfy my seasoning cravings.

And so, I decided to just create my own version of the cult classic, a homemade everything but the bagel seasoning.

It’s just as good – if not better than the original.

Salty.

Garlicy.

Savory.

Perfection.

Paleo Everything Bagel Seasoning

What’s in my Homemade Everything (but the bagel) Seasoning

The ingredients of this homemade everything but the bagel seasoning are stupidly simple. You can buy every single one of them in the spice section of your local grocery store for less than a few bucks.

The key players are:

  • sesame seeds
  • black sesame seeds
  • minced garlic
  • minced onion
  • poppy seeds
  • salt

Putting them together is just as stupidity simple. It takes less than 3 minutes! Just toss all of the spices into a bowl and stir. That’s it.

How to Use it

There is no right or wrong way to use this seasoning, except maybe on dessert. You can throw it onto almost anything your heart desires.

Baked or roasted potatoes? Sprinkle away.

Grilling some chicken or pork or beef? Lather it on.

Toast? Done.

Eggs? Yes, yes, yes.

You can throw it on top of vegetable side dishes or chicken salad. It spruces up avocados, stir fries and even fish tacos!

If you can season it, you can season it with this.

This Homemade Everything But the Bagel Seasoning is appropriate for any dietary lifestyle. It’s Paleo, Whole30 compliant, gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free and sugar-free. Use it with abandon!

Once you put it together once, it’ll last in an airtight jar for up to six months. The five minutes is absolutely worth the effort to have weeks + weeks of this sensational sprinkler.

Homemade Everything (but the bagel) Seasoning

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 1 tbsp black sesame seeds
  • 1 tbsp poppy seeds
  • 1.5 tbsp dried, minced garlic
  • 1.5 tbsp dried, minced onion
  • 1.5 tbsp coarse sea salt

Instructions

  • Mix all of the spices together and store in an airtight jar. Sprinkle on anything and everything!
