This Paleo Raspberry Chip Protein Smoothie is creamy, dreamy + packed with plant protein. It’s sweet + tangy with the perfect chocolate crunch, but is also dairy-free, gluten-free, refined sugar free + vegan!

When it comes to breakfast, I’ve been hook, line + sinker for a smoothie almost every single day this summer. It’s been about a billion degrees in England, so the idea of eating eggs or anything hot makes me die a little bit inside. Lucky for me, I stumbled up on the magic of my Mint Chocolate Chip Smoothie + never looked back. This Paleo Raspberry Chip Protein Smoothie was a happy accident when I ran out of bananas for the mint version + decided to experiment.

Why you’ll love this recipe:

  • Easy to make so you won’t have to think too hard before coffee.
  • So quick to throw together which means you can grab it on your way out the door!
  • Incredibly filling – no sugar bomb smoothies that leave you starving a few hours later here!
  • It tastes incredible…reason enough!

Ingredients you’ll need for this Paleo Raspberry Chip Protein Smoothie

This recipe really is customisable. The below ratios are what work best for me, my stomach, my taste buds + the ingredients that I have on hand. But please, feel free to customise the recipe however works best for you! To make my version exactly, you’ll need:

  • frozen vegetables: I know this sounds weird, but trust me. Adding frozen vegetables, namely zucchini and cauliflower, makes your smoothies SO CREAMY. It ups the fiber + vitamin content, and you totally can’t even taste them.
  • Frozen berries: I love to use a mixed berry blend, but you could totally just go plain raspberry here! Strawberry or blueberry would work too, but you’d miss out on some of the tang of the raspberry flavor!
  • Flax seed: Fiber is one of the most important ingredients when we’re talking about “fullness”. Adding ground flax will help to make this smoothie satiating, and also keep your digestion regular 😉
  • Nut Butter: Another component in the fullness factor is fat. Adding nut butter really gives this smoothie some staying power, so choose your fav!
  • Salt: I know this sounds weird, but PLEASE DON’T SKIP IT! Salt really does bring out the other tastes + we’re just using a pinch.
  • Non-Dairy Milk: Use whatever you love, even if that’s regular milk…the smoothie just won’t be Paleo or Vegan then!
  • Cacao Nibs: These are totally optional, but they really do make the smoothie for me. They add just little tiny nuggets of chocolate flavoured crunch. SO GOOD.
  • Optional Sweetener: I love to add a few drops of stevia to mine, but you could skip it or add maple syrup instead.
  • Protein Powder: Please see below.

What Protein Powder do I love?

I have tried a gazillion protein powders, so I know the struggle to find one you like. If you’re like me and suffer from any dietary restrictions, especially around diary, it’s a minefield. But friends, I have found the holy grain + I love it so freaking much.

This post isn’t sponsored at all, so these are totally my opinions, but if you’re looking for a new protein powder, I’d wholeheartedly recommend Nuzest.

Nuzest is made from 3, real food ingredients. The protein comes from hypoallergenic peas + is perfect if you’re Paleo, Vegan or just dairy-free. I have a constant stash of both the vanilla + the strawberry in my house.

If you want to try them, you can save 15% off with the code JESSICAEATSREALFOOD if you’re in the US or JESSICAEATS if you’re UK based. They even offer sample packs to try the different varieties or if you’re not sure how you’ll like pea protein before you invest in a big tub.

Making this Paleo Raspberry Chip Protein Smoothie PERFECT

I know there are people who prefer thin smoothies, but I’m not one of them. I want a smoothie that eats like a milkshake…with a spoon. I want it thick + creamy + YUM! But, there’s a method to getting it just right.

First, start by adding all of your ingredients in the blender, minus the milk + cacao nibs. Start with less, blend, scrape down the blender, blend again + then add more milk as necessary. Using a high speed blender with undoubtedly make this a much quicker process too! Keep at it until you get a smooth, creamy base. Next, stop the blender + add the cacao nibs. Pulse a few times + DONE!

You guys have to give this Paleo Raspberry Chip Breakfast Smoothie a try. It’s such a dream. If you do make it, I’d love to see your remakes on instagram! And be sure to pop back and leave a rating/review because it helps other people find my recipes, and we want everyone have this yummy smoothie, yes? Yes.
